It started out as a small shop in a town a few miles out of Greenfield, CA. The shop was called Starcourts & Associates, and sold new electronic devices from 1974-1976. The Computers and other devices like the Starcourt radio were made and produced by the three men. Due to rising popularity the store opened its second location in the city of Los Angeles, followed by Sacramento, Seattle, San Diego and Greenfield. The first Starcourt Manufacturing plant was built in Sacramento, California. The plant produced the Dunphy PCs which were sold from 1976-1980. Right after the Plant was finished, both Dunphy and Smithson died mysteriously in a car accident. The 1976 Duick Estate Wagon was found in the Sonora river with both men inside. Right after the tragic death. The only founder left, Starcourts retired and went to live in a farm out in Ohio. His son Steve Starcourts was now the owner of the company. He expanded extremely fast. From 1978-1994 the chain got 120 new locations in the USA, including the first one on the west coast in 1980 in New York City. The first Location Abroad was opened in Tokyo in 1994. From this point on the brand started expanding into almost every country in the world.
