Back in 1917 the city of Palma was instituted after a big oil refinery was built. A few shops and houses were built, but nothing big. That was un till the highway I-5 was built. It used to bypass the town, but in 1956 a intersection was built to make an entrance to the small town. This made a lot of interstate travelers stop in palma for food and drinks. The town started expanding fast, on the eastern side of palma a new development was built with a middle school, multiple strip malls and a bunch of duplexes and apartments. This was one of the most affordable places to live at the time, since a oil refinery took up most of the town. The western side was built in 1958 with more duplexes, a motel and a lot of single family homes. In 1965 the oil refinery became abandoned after the owners failed to follow safety regulations. This attracted a lot of criminals to the abandoned refinery. So the city planned a new police and fire station | |||

History
Back in 1917 the city of Palma was instituted after a big oil refinery was built. A few shops and houses were built, but nothing big. That was un till the highway I-5 was built. It used to bypass the town, but in 1956 a intersection was built to make an entrance to the small town. This made a lot of interstate travelers stop in palma for food and drinks.
