The Greenfield Fire Department (GFD) is the primary provider of fire protection and emergency medical response services for the City of Greenfield and Greenfield County, California. The department also provides for technical rescue services, hazardous chemical response, fire safety inspections, and disaster and emergency management (along with the Greenfield Police Department).
Established in 1897, the Greenfield Fire Department originally served only the regions south of Greenfield Bay and the Greenfield Channel. It merged with the Ashfield Fire Service in 1947 after the City of Ashfield was incorporated into Greenfield.
The department currently employs 9,730 civilian employees and emergency responders as of January 2025.
