In the fall of 1980, fed up over the rival Bushwood Country Club in neighboring Bloomington, rich and affluent Greenfield residents organized the '''Longport Keys Golf Club''' on a 15-acre (6 ha) lot in the newly-developing district at Longport Keys West.
